AtaW by Kimura Matsumoto architects

is a minimalist shop interior located in Fukui, Japan, designed by . The renovation includes the renewal of the cafe and shop area which features the 14 year old lacquerware company. The architects chose semi-transparent surfaces in order to bring lightness to the product, as well as provide a faint reflection. A series of metal pipes are arrayed across the ceiling, and used to hang pendant lighting. Above the pipes are a succession of semi-transparent floating mesh tarps that complement the surface material.
